Larabar Sale at Costco!

I’ve never seen Larabars on sale anywhere, so when I saw it at Costco I bought a couple boxes!  This variety pack of 18 comes with the cashew, coconut and chocolate chip flavours!

*Sale seen at Sherwood Park Costco.*

Regular $16.99 and on sale for $13.49!

Ben’s Favorite (Healthy) Snacks are on SALE!

Ben is a picky eater, which is not terribly unusual for a two year old boy, so when we discovered that he loved these snacks at Costco long ago, I’ve been picking them up almost every trip!  These dairy-free, GMO-free snacks are wonderfully priced on any given day, but to get them on sale made me feel like I hit the jackpot!

These are regularly $9.29 for 48 fig bars (which is GREAT) but are currently on sale for $6.99!  I hope your kids like them just as much as mine do!

My Costco Trip This Week Included Some GREAT Organic Food Sales!

I’ve been dairy-free since Charles was about 2 months old and have been buying coconut milk for my coffee from Costco.  Generally a box of six is $10.99, but it was on an unadvertised sale for only $8.79 making it only $1.47 per 1L carton!

Did you know that prices ending in “9” (so $0.59, $0.69, $0.79, $0.89 but not $0.99) generally means that Costco got a deal from the manufacturer and passed it on to members! Hurray!

Another unadvertised sale was for organic black bean spaghetti!  I’m so glad I went down this aisle because this product was on my “must buy if it ever goes on sale” list.  Regular price is $9.99 for a 907g box.  For anything organic I try to pay about $1.00/100g or $1.00/lb so this sale is great!

photo(70)The last time I bought the Costco Wild Roots Couscous Blend it was $7.99.

When I went back yesterday it was only $4.97!  I’m kicking myself for only buying ONE!

I also picked up a 12 pack of organic tomato sauce for $8.99 and organic peas for $6.49.

$45.82 (the sales helped me save $10.22)

Costco’s Organic Steel Cut Oats

A while back I posted here about one of my new finds at Costco: organic steel cut oats.  For 3.18kg, the price was an amazing $9.49!

photo(13)Now these oats are only $8.99!  Only a fifty cent difference, but fifty cents is fifty cents!

photo(38)This should be on your grocery list.  Steel cut oats are super healthy and for this price they are very affordable.  My picky eater son loves them so much (mixed with raw honey, organic milk and cinnamon of course) that he actually eats it for breakfast and a snack!

So You Know That Peanut Butter I Love…

I went to Costco tonight to grab food for my son’s 2 year old birthday party this weekend, coconut milk for my coffee and good ol’ peanut butter!  I wanted my Golden Boy, and was so excited to see it on sale until I saw that tiny star in the top right corner.  That star means that they are clearing this product out!  I’m really disappointed that I just found this delicious, whole foods peanut butter with NO junk in it, and now my Costco won’t have it once these pallets are gone.

Let me know if your Costco is clearing this out!

You Need to Try This Peanut Butter

I ran out of organic peanut butter last week.  Peanut butter is a staple in our home since we basically eat it every day and it’s a quick, easy and delicious protein to get into my kids.  I found this peanut butter at Costco and I can honestly say I think it’s better than Skippy or Kraft!

The natural and whole ingredients make it taste fantastic!  Try it.  Seriously.  It comes in a two pack (750g each) and was between $6-$8 (I can’t remember off hand).

7 Yummy Things We Are Enjoying This Summer

1. Happy Planet Raspberry Lemonade

I knew I was pregnant with Charles (baby #3) when I first tried this product last year.  All I had to do was take a sip and I knew that something so simple should not take like the angels in Heaven made it.  Seriously folks, this was my first trimester go-to for my nausea and I still love it.  It goes on sale at Save-on-Foods for $3.99.  Send Happy Planet an email praising their products and hopefully they will send you a $1 coupon or free product coupon (FPC) and you can use it on the Raspberry Lemonade.  Maybe you’ll luck out and get it on sale, with a coupon AND during 15% off Tuesday!

2. Quinoa Chips

Usually when I try new products I like to wait until they are on sale, clearance or on 15% off Tuesday.  These chips came in an itty-bitty bag and cost $4.99 (on sale).  OUCH!  That was not a frugal buy at all, BUT I like to try new things so bought it on 15% off Tuesday.  The kids and I had this as a treat and thoroughly enjoyed these GMO-free treats.

3. Red Lentil Pasta

Found at Costco.

This was another non-frugal buy, but I decided to try it anyways.  My son is ridiculously picky and I struggle to find a healthy variety of foods to feed him.  To make this $9.99 box of “pasta” stretch, I’ve combined it with eggs, veggies, and free-from chicken.  Because it contains 21g of protein per serving, my kids filled their bellies with a small portion.  I’m guessing that we can stretch this into quite a few meals.  Best part is that there is only ONE ingredient listed in this product: red lentils.

4. Chia Squeeze

Found at Costco.

I try to spend $1 per 100g/1L/unit in organic food and this was slightly more than that.  Right now I’m feeling quite limited with my dairy-free diet (Charles has a sensitivity to the dairy proteins he receives through my breast milk) so I like finding something quick, easy and “to-go”.  These organic treats have the consistency of tapioca pudding and tastes best when chilled.

5. Coconut Milk “Ice Cream”

This is MINE!  I love ice cream and find that I cannot go through summer without it.  This delicious coconut milk “ice cream” is actually on sale at Planet Organic for $4.99 until August 14.

6. San Pellegrino

This sale is over, but watch for it as this is the BEST price for this product.

A delicious alternative to main stream pop.  I’m thrilled that my husband likes these and has started mixing his rum with them instead of with his usual Coke!

7. Organic Flavoured Milk Kefir

3 x 454ml for $9.99.  Found at Costco.

Milk kefir is not something I EVER thought my kids (especially picky eater Ben) would enjoy: but they do!  This organic milk kefir from Liberte is awesome and I believe the price is great too!  This fermented, probiotic milk is great for gut health and WAY cheaper than buying probiotic pills or drops.  This package comes with raspberry, strawberry and plain.  My kids do NOT like the plain, so I’ve mixed it with honey or fruit and well, my daughter will eat it!

These are just a few things we are enjoying this summer!

What Does Yogurt Kefir, Black Bean Spaghetti and Couscous Have in Common?

Nothing really, except that they can now all be found at Costco along with dark chocolate almond butter!

Currently I’m off dairy (I’ll write about THAT later), but I had to pick up this organic yogurt kefir for my kids.  A pack of three 454ml for only $9.99 is a fantastic price and we’re just about out of yogurt.  They better like it.  My friend told me that I can make myself organic coconut milk kefir yogurt and I’m excited to try!

photo(9)Coucous used to be a favorite with my daughter and I’m hoping that I can make it tastey enough that my son will like it too!  You can get a 1.5kg bag for $7.99.

Black bean spaghetti is just cool, but since we’re fully stocked up on ‘pasta’ I had to pass on this one for now.  Has anyone tried it?  You can get a box of 907g for $9.99.

And my hand was shaking SO much from excitement that I did not get a good picture of the dark chocolate almond butter, but it’s $10.99 for 795g.

Urgent! Costco’s Coconut Chips

Recently I fell in love with these delicious organic coconut chips from Costco.  Yesterday when I was picking up my son’s baptism cake, I decided to also grab a few bags of these while I was there.  While checking out, the cashier told me that they are DISCONTINUING THESE items!  Hugely disappointed in this because this was my new favorite snack, so I had her scan in a couple more bags and I went back and grabbed more.  She told me that any product that has a snowflake in the top right corner of its price “tag” is being discontinued.  We are unsure if it was just for the Sherwood Park Costco, so check yours out before it’s too late!  Once the pallets are cleared, there will be no more!
